Terms of use and disclaimer

1. The service

Metroloom (metroloom.net) is a free online calculation tool for measurement uncertainty budgets and conformity assessment, run by Anna Badanina, Belgium. By using the site you accept these terms.

2. A calculation tool, not advice

Metroloom applies the methods of JCGM 100:2008 (GUM), EA-4/02 M and ILAC G8 to the data and criteria you enter — components, distributions, sensitivity coefficients, degrees of freedom, tolerance limits and decision rule. It shows the result of those inputs. It does not give professional metrological, legal or quality-management advice.

Statements such as pass or conditional fail follow mechanically from your inputs and the decision rule you chose. The decision on conformity, the choice of the measurement model and the completeness of the budget are always your responsibility.

3. Validation

The calculation engine is tested against published worked examples (see the validation report). Accredited laboratories remain responsible for validating any software they use, as required by ISO/IEC 17025 clause 7.11. The source code is public so that the calculations can be checked.

4. No warranty

The service is provided free of charge, "as is" and "as available", without any warranty that it is error-free, complete, fit for a particular purpose or continuously available. Check important results independently.

5. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for any direct or indirect damage arising from the use of, or the inability to use, Metroloom, including damage from incorrect inputs, incorrect results, lost data or decisions based on the results. This does not limit liability for intent or gross negligence, or any liability that cannot be excluded under Belgian law.

6. Your data

Your calculations stay in your browser; see the privacy policy. You are responsible for keeping your own copies (for example by printing or saving the report as PDF).

7. Acceptable use

Do not attempt to disrupt the site or use it for unlawful purposes.

8. Changes and governing law

These terms may change; the current version is always on this page. Belgian law applies. Contact: contact@metroloom.net.
